September Zoom Meeting — Convening: A Superpower for Purposeful Leaders

September 22, 2020 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

The art of engagement in meetings, gatherings, and conversations.

Rooted in decades of practical experience, convening is a powerful set of principles and practices for making any gathering productive, meaningful, and transformative. “Convening is different from facilitation. By definition, facilitation is ‘the process of making things easier.’ In contrast, conveners invite participants to co-create the highest possible outcome for a meeting or gathering.”* The heart of this practice is the Convening Wheel — a series of nine steps, or Aspects, that bring the practices and principles needed for authentic engagement together as a whole. Convening works in any setting and can be adapted to virtually any group process.

*This presentation is based on principles in The Art of Convening book (Neil, Neil and Wold, 2011, Berrett-Koehler)

Would you be willing to purchase a gift certificate for the raffle?

There will even be an online raffle. We encourage you to donate a gift certificate from your own business or for take-out or delivery meals from a local Calaveras restaurant or for a gift certificate from a local merchant. Take a photo of the gift certificate and email it to Mary Phoenix so we can add it to the raffle item page. Check out the prizes from the August meeting.

But hold on to the gift certificates. After the meeting, we will put you in touch with the person who won and you can arrange to send them through the mail, deliver digitally, or arrange for pick up. Try calling a local restaurant and see if you can purchase over the phone and have it waiting for the winner.
